The quality is improved by leaving them in ground over winter for spring use. Secure enough in pits or cellars in the fall for immediate needs. One ounce will sow 200 feet of drill. 608 Large Sugar, or Hollow Crown. This is the best and most productive variety and is largely grown both in the home garden and for market. The roots, which are creamy white, grow 10 to 12 inches long, and are smooth, tender, sweet and are of excellent flavor. Pkt., 10 cts.; oz., 20 cts.; \ lb., 45 610 Student, or Guernsey. Very similar to No. 608, but somewhat shorter. A good half-long variety, with smooth white roots.
