The Battle of Austerlitz (2 December 1805) near the village of Austerlitz in the Austrian Empire, was one of the most decisive engagements of the Napoleonic Wars. It is regarded as a tactical masterpiece and the greatest victory achieved by Napoleon, when France defeated a larger Russian and Austrian army led by Tsar Alexander I and Holy Roman Emperor Francis II.
