A stem of Bleeding hearts against a grey background, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.

Springtime is the season for the greatest amount blooms on the Bleeding Heart plants. If the plants are well watered all summer, they will continue to bloom all summer, although to a lesser degree. Some gardeners prefer to let the Bleeding Heart plant die back after the large bloom in spring, and allow the plants beside them to overgrow that spot as well. This plant is easy to multiply from it's own seeds.
