Self Portrait with Wet Shirt Inhale 2


The era of pandemic face masks begets its own peculiar fascination. Lying unsleeping in the dark, thoughts of rebellious masks emerged. "What about a torn mask? What about fabric weeping blood and sticking to the wearer's lips (catsup proved an unsuccessful analog)? Stefan Hadzi-Nicolov's artwork came to mind. Later, I stood in front of the sink, soaking paper towels in tap water, sucking them against my face, and snapping portraits. They came out okay, if ludicrous (completely safe - air comes right through). I found a white shirt to try and these are the results.
