Brome grass mosaic virus. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of virus particles (virions) of the brome grass mosaic virus (BMV). This plant virus is a bromovirus, and has an RNA (ribonucleic acid) genome. It was first identified in 1942 in Bromus inermis, a species of brome grass . Symptoms include a mosiac type of lesion. The virus is transmitted by several parasitic Xiphinema species of nematode roundworms. Magnification: x125,000 when printed 10cm high.
