Once part of the original workhouse before St Mary's became a hospital are the Vagrant Cells in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

Prior to becoming a hospital St. Marys in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire was originally a Victorian workhouse. Original buildings like the Pauper/Vagrant Cells were retained for unknown reasons. One section was turned into a mortuary whilst the cells were left. Now quite a rarity in modern times to see such a complete building and shows what life must have been like for the poverty stricken.
