A fell-gathering of sheep in the Honister Pass, The Lake District, UK. Herdwick sheep are driven along the road.

Several times a year Lake District Farmers gather in their sheep from the fells to be taken back to the farm for various purposes such as lambing, shearing, etc. This fell gathering in Autumn is mainly to separate this years lambs from mothers. The sheep are hefted, so they live out on the fells most of the year. Shepherds and dogs need to search the fells for the sheep to bring them back to the farm. The sheep here are Herdwick breed, but some Swaledales from neighbouring flocks get rounded up in the fell gathering.
