Soldier's Graves, Opepe, Taupo, New Zealand


On June 7 1869 a detachment of Te Kooti's men surprised a party of fourteen Government Militia who were camped in the abandoned village at Opepe near Taupo. Nine of the Milita were killed with no loss to Te Kooti.
