This larva of an Atlantic longarm octopus (Octopus defilippi) will grow up to an adult of 1 m length. However, its body will only contribute approximately 1/8 to this length, as the arms alone are about 80 to 90 cm long - hence the name of the animal. The larva has only some chromatophores. When fully grown these pigmented cells will cover the whole body of the octopus and enables it to change its color. [size of single organism: 3 cm] (Octopoda)
