Despite the awesome history that surrounds the market, it wasn’t massively interesting.  It consisted of many women selling corn, bananas, betel nuts, chicken feed, papayas, etc-the normal stuff that you see in traditional markets in Indonesia.  They each had small plots where they sat down and waited to trade with the women from Lamalera who had buckets of whale meat.
