Rhaguin Mordax, is a Longhorn Beetle, this one was found on the edge of a coppice's woodland alongside a wood pile in the grass vegetation. A common Longhorn that is often found in hedgerows. My wife pointed it out give you an idea of its size. It was photographed in Kent in May. This beetle lays its eggs in trees were the grub matures before emerging as this beetle, so being part of the ecosystems regeneration process, but other longhorns can cause damage to growing trees and a so a pest to the forester.
