A mature male brown bear, nicknamed "Lurch", waits in his fishing spot while the subadult approaches cautiously, Brooks Falls

Each year millions of Pacific salmon return to their natal rivers of Alaska to spawn. Each year hundreds of Alaskan brown bears feast on the returning salmon. The oceanic nutrients the salmon provide helps to fatten up the bears before they enter hibernation in the autumn.
