Urine analysis colour chart (right), with urine samples in the background. The colours are used to assess the results of standard tests. From top, these are: specific gravity, acidity (pH), leucocytes, nitrite, protein, glucose, ketones, urobilinogen, bilirubin, and erythrocytes. Leucocytes and erythrocytes are white and red blood cells. High levels of ketones and glucose in the urine can indicate a diagnosis of diabetes, where the body is resistant to or fails to produce the insulin needed to break down sugars in the blood. Instead, fats are broken down, producing ketones.
