Mr. Wibham Richardson moved— That inasmuch as the Newcastle Corporation areabout to apply to Parliament for further powers inconnection witli their bye-laws, the Tree Cultureand Protection Society respectfully suggpsts thatspecial powers be taken to plant and maintain treeswithin the precincts of the city, and to enforce thelaying out of new streets, and particularly of mainthoroughfares, of such a width that trees may beplanted either in single or in double rows along eachside, or in single or several rows along the middle ofany Btreet or thoroughfare which the Corporation.
