Of the family Bixaceae, Kapok Bush (also know as malindjarr) is a source of bush tucker for the Indigenous people of the Kimberley and the Northern Territory who roast the roots of young plants in ashes. The fruit will burst open on the tree to free numerious feathery seeds that are dispersed by the wind.
