The Jezreel Valley and Gilboa Mountains, Israel
A view of the Jezreel Valley and the Gilboa Mountains from the hill on which the biblical town of Jezreel - Yizreel stood, showing cultivated fields . The vineyard of Navot - Naboth - close by is mentioned in the bible, as is the King Ahab and his wife Jezebel. King Saul and his son Jonathan were killed in battle on the nearby hills, and mourned by King David. A Byzantine church was built nearby and has been excavated, as has an iron age town at the foot of the hill.
