Remembrance celebrations 2014. "Blood swept sees and land of red", was an art installation by Paul Cummins around the Tower of London consisting of 888,246 ceramic poppies. It was to mark one hundred years since the first full day of Britain's involvement in the First World War and proved a massive hit with the general public. Huge crowds of people gathered day and night and they loved what they saw. The poppies were gradually planted until 11 November. Each represented one British or colonial life lost.
