Original Victorian CDV of two young children - boy with toy yacht, girl with toy pony -, (or possibly a younger brother in a girl's dress as was the fashion for very young boys in Victorian times) This elaborate style of children's clothing with velvet suit and lace collars was influenced by the popular 1885-1886 novel "Little Lord Fauntleroy" by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The boy holding the yacht is wearing a velvet pleated skirt (also not uncommon boys' wear in the 1880's). Dated from another of our images ( See Alamy ref: 2HCWJDB) where a boy is wearing a similar suit and must date from after 1885 as there is a mention of awards of 1884 and 1885 on the reverse of the card - so estimated date of late 1880's.
