Giraffes. Pair of giraffe mothers (Giraffa camelopardalis) walking with their calves. The giraffe is the tallest living land animal, some specimens reaching over 6 metres in height. The calf is born after a 15-month-long pregnancy and may be over 2 metres tall at birth. Giraffes live in loose groups of between 2-50 individuals, inhabiting the savannas of sub-Saharan Africa.
