Pityriasis lichenoides chronica

Pityriasis lichenoides chronica lesions on the skin of a 30 year old Hispanic man. This case has persisted for over 12 years. This condition is also known as chronic guttate parapsoriasis. Parapsoriasis refers to skin disorders that resemble the scaly lesions that form in psoriasis, though the cause is different. The condition is thought to be caused by hypersensitivity to viruses such as the Epstein-Barr virus. Treatments include ultraviolet phototherapy, topical steroids, and oral antibiotics.
