"Bolshevik prisoners at Batoum ": photograph of Bolshevik or Communist prisoners on board British Navy battleship HMS Royal Sovereign in May 1920. British servicemen (Royal Marines?) are standing next to the prisoners with fixed bayonets. The HMS Royal Sovereign was at Batoum (now Batumi in Georgia) as part of British involvement in the Russian Civil War following the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. The prisoners are in a range of clothing - from leather jackets to an embroidered traditional style shirt
