A 1900 portrait of English born music hall 'Costermonger comedian' and songwriter Albert Chevalier. He was born Albert Onésime Britannicus Gwathveoyd Louis Chevalier; ( 1861 – 1923) and became an English music hall comedian, singer and musical theatre actor who specialised in cockney related humour. He was know to audiences as the "costers' laureate". His first music hall performance was On 5 February 1891 at the New London Pavilion, Piccadilly Circus. In 1893 Chevalier managed the Trocadero Music Hall, a move that failed and left him badly in debt. He penned the song 'My Old Dutch'
