Three-core electric cable. Cables like this are commonly used for household appliances such as kettles and heaters. They have three separately insulated (double-insulated) wires inside them. Each wire is colour coded so that it is connected to the correct part of the appliance or its plug. Blue: neutral; brown: live; green and yellow: earth.
