Mudpuppy blues duo at the Island park blues festival

The Island Park Blues Festival was held on the banks of the beautiful Willamette River in Springfield, Oregon, on August 9 and 10, 2013. Eugene Oregon based primitive blues duo Mudpuppy incorporates a mix of the traditional style of artists like Burnside and Junior Kimbrough with the sounds of the punk/lo-fi blues scene. Hard hitting drums smothered with amped up slide guitar. Influenced by everything from delta and hill country blues to grunge and punk music. Singer/guitarist Jason Johnson growls his way through fast finger-picking electric guitar while Dustin Hanes lays down the heavy rhythms that are the backbone of the band. Mudpuppy uses blues music as a platform to explore other genres of music like punk, garage, and rockabilly, instead off letting the blues limit the bands musical taste. One thing is for sure, you know your at a Mudpuppy show when you see one guitar, a pair of amps, and a giant bass drum right up on the front of the stage.
