Catch the Golden Wave - surfers waiting for and catching waves in the waters off of Topanga State Beach on an unusually calm day due to off shore winds also known locally as "Santa Ana winds" which often help intensifying and spreading fires across Southern California as had been the case when this picture was taken. Huge amounts of smoke covered the entire region for days mid November 2008, filtering the sunlight and giving it an orange brownish color reflecting in the water as seen here from November 16, 2008
