Arco, Idaho - Fuel rods displayed above the reactor at the Experimental Breeder Reactor No. 1 (EBR-1), the first nuclear reactor to produce usable energy. The fuel rods were loaded into the reactor through the hole in the center. The reactor operated from 1951 to 1963; it is now a National Historic Landmark and is open to the public.
