Elegant clarkia (Clarkia unguiculata) seeds germinating after 48 years in storage. This was part of an investigation into the longevity of seeds and the viability of seed banks. These seeds were stored in vacuum tubes in 1948. They were still viable when removed in 2016, and underwent germination.
