Agnes Vaille Falls are named after the person of the same name who spent a lot of her life walking and climbing in the mountains of Colorado. Alice served with the Red Cross in France in WW1 and after that moved to Denver to be near the mountains. She lost her life after a fall on the fourteener Longs Peak. She survived the initial fall but froze to death before rescuers could reach her. In September 2013 the falls were a scene of another tragedy. Five members of the same family were killed when a huge rock fall engulfed them.
