Aunt Jemima Pancake and Waffle mix box after being pulled off the market.

A box of Aunt Jemima Pancake and Waffle Mix was still being sold at a local grocery store after the product being sold was pulled off store shelves and not being produced any more. Due to civil unrest in America, the figure of Aunt Jemima was considered a racist usage of African-Americans that had been used since American slaves were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation at the end of the United States Civil War. It has been said that Nancy Green, who was a freed slave was the original figure used as Aunt Jemima, to help sell food products.
