Rock Sites of Cappadocia Unesco world heritage site, formerly volcanic region. Andesitic tuff from volcanic eruptions was overlaid with different layers of andesitic and basaltic lavas. These layers have eroded over time to form conical peaks, towers, obelisks and needles.
