A German luxury musketeer's powder flask, circa 1600 Wooden body with strong yellow woollen velvet covering (rubbed). Front side with richly textured and engraved sheet brass. In the centre a portrayal of Mars, the god of war, surrounded by cherub heads and birds in between scrollwork. Mounting made of tin-plated iron, spout with spring-mounted lever. Iron belt clasp on reverse side. Four strap lugs with original carrying cord as well as preserved woollen tassels.
