A tobacco-producing farm in the Valle de Vinales, a UNESCO world cultural landscape in Pinar del Río Province, west Cuba, Cuba. Tobacco is not a native of Cuba but is believed to have arrived from the Latin Americas between 2000 and 3,000 BC. The new plant was called ‘Cohiba’ and retains that name with the Cohiba brand today which is one of Cuba’s chief exports. Cuban cigars are regarded as the very best in the world. Cuba has excellent tobacco-growing conditions and several hundred years of growing experience.
